The course of Golf Costa Adeje is one of the most impressive golf courses to be found on the Canary Islands. Golf Costa Adeje was designed taking advantage of its natural resources by integrating these in the Course. The entire round is defined by small plateaus delimited by over five thousand metres of stone walls, which used to divide the former banana plantations which were located on the grounds and which have been restored, this way summing up the original resources of this magnificent golf enclave which boasts 18 holes of par 72 and a 9 hole course of par 33.

Amarilla Golf in Tenerife is one of life's hidden gems, probably the best Tenerife golf course, it hosted a round of the PGA European tour in 1990; designed by Donald Steel in the late nineteen eighties it features an imaginatively designed golf course sandwiched between the bright blue Atlantic Ocean and Spain's highest mountain, the majestic El Teide. Playing golf in Tenerife in mid winter wearing just shorts and polo shirt with the sun reflecting off the water and with the often snow capped peak of El Teide in the opposite direction can compensate for almost any amount of duffed shots.
Tenerife's Amarilla Golf is set among residential and holiday accommodation with about half the fairways having villas or apartments running along part of their length. The hole that grips everyone is the short par three fifth; 115 metres off the yellow tees there is no fairway, just the sea to cross and then to land on a small green, it can play anything from a wedge to a five iron depending on wind conditions. This Tenerife golf hole must rank as one of the most spectacular par threes in the world.
Amarilla golf is a wonderful test of golf and of golf course management; featuring long par fours and short par threes which need considerable thought Amarilla golf course is not easy for the once a year holiday hacker. The course is fair but punishing for the golfer trying too hard who gets a little wayward, push or pull a shot here and you won't find an accommodating adjacent fairway from which to play the next shot.
Amarilla golf now has a further attraction, the new 344 berth San Miguel marina is situated just off the twelfth tee and the sight of these sleek yachts enjoying the sunshine and warm weather sailing in Tenerife just adds to the pleasure of playing golf in Tenerife.
Amarilla Golf Club is an official golf club based at the course but doesn't own the golf course; it consists of some 200 plus member, mainly British expats but with a sprinkling of other nationalities, the club runs competitions every Thursday and Sunday morning. The golf club will always welcome visitors with a handicap certificate to their competitions although at busy times in the winter members do take priority for tee times, an ideal solution for golfers on holiday with non golfing families looking for a game.
For those unfamiliar with Tenerife golf or the Tenerife climate lets just state that it's the best climate in the world; it's very rare for any golf in Tenerife to be rained off or for it to be uncomfortably hot in the summer. Tenerife is often referred to as the land of eternal springtime or, by the Romans, the Fortunate Isles. Early tee times in January and February may need a jumper but thermals and heavy waterproofs are definitely superfluous.

First opened in 1987, with a professional tournament, the Golf del Sur Golf Course (27 holes) has hosted since then many competitions at the highest international level. During the years 1989, 1992, 1993 and 1994 it hosted the Tenerife Open, belonging to the PGA European Volvo Tour, with victories of Jos Maria Olazbal in its first two editions and of David Gilford and Mark James, in the following years. In 1995, at Golf del Sur took place the Shell Wonderful World of Golf Tournament, where they confronted each other Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson.
Moreover, in 1999 at Golf del Sur two worldwide records of long drive, were achieved both by the British Karl Woodward. First he established a new record by achieving a shot of 398 yards and a few months later, he finally succeeded in breaking his own record going over the 400 yards barrier with a shot of 408.
In 2002, at Golf del Sur took place a new international tournament, and on this occasion the leading role went to ladies with the first Tenerife Ladies Open edition, tournament belonging to the LPGA European Evian Tour, with the victory of the Spanish Raquel Carriedo, This was the first Ladies Open to be played in Spain after many years.
Golf del Sur, projected by Pepe Gancedo in the beginning and then remodelled in 2005 by Manuel Piero (Links and North Course), has become the first Golf Course in the Canary Islands to have 3 competition courses offering interesting rounds where your attention will be caught by the volcanic black sand bunkers, the huge greens the wide fairways and the difficulty created by the two water hazards on the 3, 4 and 5 holes of the Links Course.
Very difficult is hole 3 with par 5 and 480 metres on the North course. Its wide and wave fairways are bordered on its right by an impressive canyon of ochre rock and on the left by wide sand roughs. The access to green will need a shot of high precision due to the bunkers position. Pay attention to the 2nd hole, par 3 of 193 metres, on the South Course, as its green is surrounded by a huge bunker of black sand making it spectacular and at the same time very hard to achieve.
The wide fairways are surrounded by a great variety of native flora making this 800.000 m2 plot of land a real oasis at the Atlantic Ocean. Palms Trees and Giant Cactus are all around the course, where special attention is paid to the conservation of its flora and fauna. Golf del Sur is one of the Spanish Golf Courses to be certified by TV on standard ISO 14001 Environment and GOLF OF THE BIOSPHERE.
Golf del Sur provides among others the Golf Academy facilities, driving range, tennis courts, minigolf, bar and restaurant, buggy bar, putting y chipping green, Pro-shop y changing rooms.
Ideal conditions with an average year round temperature of 23deg C / 74deg F
